A parking lot long used for much more than just downtown parking is now destined to become part of Trinity Lutheran Church’s campus. The parking lot, bordered by the Stephanie H. Weill Center on the east and Trinity on the south, was partially metered, and frequently raised questions about ownership and city rules for its use.
Those questions are now moot as far as the City is concerned after the Common Council approved the sale of that lot to Trinity for $78,400.00. That sale excludes electrical boxes and utility meters, parking lamps, bushes and trees, as well as signs owned by the city.
Along with that agreement, the alley that separates the lot from Trinity will be vacated and no longer maintained or controlled by the City. The agreement becomes effective on December 20th.
(note – a clerical error initially stated a price of $27,000 in the headline – that was incorrect and has been corrected – ed.)
