As if on cue, snow fell on most of southeastern Wisconsin on Sunday morning, leaving a fresh white dressing on trees, yards and parks, just in time for most to light up their holiday decorations.
While Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving hosted their share of festivities, other events such as the Sheboygan Christmas Parade waited until Sunday. That parade, from 5 until 7 p.m., means closure of the route beginning at 4 p.m. on North 7th Street from Center to Erie Avenue, west on Erie to North 8th Street, and then south on 8th Street to the Mead Public Library for the tree lighting.
The snowfall largely satisfied forecasters’ expectations, with Sheboygan County receiving between 1 and 2 inches, much like most of southeast Wisconsin, but with barely an inch remaining in most places by sunset.
Roads in the Sheboygan area were exhibiting variably conditions from fine, to slippery depending upon traffic.
For the beginning of the week, cold and dry conditions are expected with lows by Monday night reaching the low teens, and highs only in the mid 20s through Tuesday.
