National Weather Service Forecasters are holding steady on their forecasts for a very wet, windy weekend. Rains that began Thursday afternoon amounted to just two tenths of an inch by midnight, but we’re still forecast to receive an additional inch or two by Sunday morning with rates around an inch every six hours for extended periods. And while rain chances drop significantly for inland areas Saturday afternoon, those chances continue through Sunday morning near Lake Michigan, and that means we could see up to 2-1/2 inches total during the storm.
Winds will also be brisk, taking down plenty of leaves which can clog gutters, so if you have a storm drain at your curbside, it’s a good idea to check it from time to time to make sure it’s draining properly to avoid ponding and flooding on the street.
