MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers shut out the Chicago Cubs 4-0 in the regular season finale at American Family Field on Sunday afternoon.
Brewers starter Adrian Houser earned his eighth win after tossing five strikeouts over five scoreless innings.
Tyrone Taylor hit his 10th homer of the season on a solo shot in the sixth inning. Mark Canha, Josh Donaldson and Garrett Mitchell each recorded an RBI as the NL Central champion Brewers finished the regular season 92-70.
Cubs starter Drew Smyly was handed his 11th loss after he allowed three runs in just one-third of an inning. Chicago was limited to five hits and went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
The Cubs finished the season second in the NL Central at 83-79. They missed the playoffs for the third straight season.
The Brewers are moving on to the postseason after a one-year drought and will host the Arizona Diamondbacks in the wild card round beginning Tuesday night.
