MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The St. Louis Cardinals took the series opener 4-1 from the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field on Tuesday night.
In spite of the loss, the Brewers wrapped up the NL Central Division title because the Chicago Cubs lost.
Miles Mikolas earned the win for the Cardinals after giving up just one run while striking out five batters and allowing five hits over seven innings.
Ryan Helsley tallied his 13th save of the season in the ninth as the bullpen held Milwaukee hitless over the final two frames.
Carlos Santana drove in the lone run for Milwaukee.
The second game of the series takes place Wednesday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6:05.
