Gerald “Jerry” G. Damkot, 80, of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at
Pine Haven Christian Home. He was born November 8, 1942 in Sheboygan to the late Harold
and Evelyn (Jensema) Damkot.
Jerry proudly served in the Army Reserve from 1962 to 1968. On September 12, 1964 he was
united in marriage to Julie Nelson at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Together they
celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Jerry worked for the Wisconsin Power & Light Company, Edgewater retiring in 1997. He had a
strong faith in God and was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, serving
as an usher, leading many Thrivent fundraisers, and serving as Vice President for a time.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, sky diving and
gardening. He loved all animals especially time spent with is four legged companions. Jerry had
a lifelong passion for learning and many eclectic interests. He also enjoyed watching sports,
traveling and was an avid bowler. Family was his pride and joy, he enjoyed creating lasting
memories with his children and grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife Julie, sons Adam (Lynn) Damkot and Jason (Margaret) Damkot,
grandchildren Magic (Taylor) Delong, Devin Damkot, Payton Damkot, Brittany (Matt Stewart)
McDonald and Ahren and Kelly Crotty, great-grandchildren Alise Crotty and Acaccia Delong,
sisters Karen (Wayne) Lammers and Mary (Steve) Olson, sisters-in-law Marilyn Damkot, Linda
Damkot and Cynthia (Art) Epping. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Eugene
Damkot, in-laws George and Florence Nelson, brother-in-law David (Irene) Nelson, and
nephews Wade Reif and David Nelson II.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 11:30 Am at Christ
Lutheran Church, 3816 S. 12th
St. Sheboygan, with Rev. Christian Gugle officiating. Relatives
and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 9:30 AM until
11:15 AM at the CHURCH.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Sheboygan Humane
Society in Jerry’s name.
