CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – The Chicago Cubs put an end to the Milwaukee Brewers’ win streak with a 1-0 win at Wrigley Field on Tuesday night.
Justin Steele earned his 15th win of the season after surrendering six hits while striking out eight batters over six innings. The bullpen allowed just one more hit over the final three frames as Adbert Alzolay notched his 22nd save of the season in the ninth.
Cody Bellinger drove in the only run of the game in the first inning. Chicago improved to 70-62 and trails the Brew Crew for first place in the NL Central by four games.
Mark Canha collected a pair of hits for Milwaukee, which had its nine-game win streak snapped with the loss.
The rubber match of this three-game series will take place Wednesday afternoon with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 12:45.
