CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers extended their long winning streak to nine following a 6-2 victory over the Cubs in the series opener from Wrigley on Monday night.
Christian Yelich and Mark Canha each blasted home runs as part of a four-run first inning. Willy Adames went two-for-four with a double while Sal Frelick and William Contreras also collected a pair of hits.
Wade Miley earned the win after surrendering two runs on four hits over six innings.
Patrick Wisdom and Ian Happ each went yard for Chicago, which fell to 69-62. The Cubbies are second in the division, five games behind the Brewers.
The Brew Crew improved to 74-57 and will face the Cubs again Tuesday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:30.
