A 59-year-old St. Cloud man is in the Fond du Lac County Jail after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that ended in Sheboygan County.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said events began with a 911 call shortly before 7 last night from a male saying that he was just struck by his father, whom he said was intoxicated and leaving in a gold minivan. A Fond du Lac County deputy already patrolling the area was nearly struck as the minivan pulled out of the driveway and left at a high rate of speed southbound on “G” and then east on “C”.
The driver headed into Sheboygan County and past Glenbeulah where he then went southbound on County Highway “A” almost to Highway 23. That’s where another Fond du Lac County Deputy awaited with spike strips. The driver tried to avoid the strips, lost control, striking a road sign and becoming disabled in the ditch where he was arrested without incident.
Besides the new charges that include his third OWI arrest, charges of felony fleeing and eluding, four misdemeanor bail-jumping charges and other traffic citations, he’s also on probation for four open cases, thee of those involving conditions of absolute sobriety.
