While the Mercury Midwest Racing Challenge promise lots of high-speed thrills on the water this weekend, those navigating the streets of Sheboygan will probably be experiencing something much slower and more congested. With that in mind, the City of Sheboygan is encouraging drivers to make use of free parking and trolley services in order to keep traffic flowing as best as possible.
Friday night between 6 and 10 p.m., several downtown roads will be closed for a block party where people can view racing boats ranging from 30 to 90 feet long while enjoying music, food trucks and, of course, a brat fry.
Many similar activities will surround the racing area between the riverfront and harbor on Saturday and Sunday, and qualifying and racing for the F-1 boats that can reach over 160 miles and hour are sure to crowd areas near the harbor where that race takes place. Other races will run a course from the south pier to Black River with viewing available along the shoreline.
