Two notable appointments are up for approval by the Sheboygan Common Council when they convene at 6 p.m. tonight at City Hall.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson has nominated Attorney Samuel Melei to be appointed as the Municipal Court Judge. Melei would fill the seat formely held by now Circuit Court Judge Natasha Torry, who won that post in this year’s spring election. Melei, an attorney with Melei, Petche Spencer, is a 1999 graduate of DePaul University College of Law, and would hear cases for the City of Sheboygan and Village of Kohler.
Mayor Sorenson has also recommended that Diane McGinnis-Casey be confirmed as the Director of Planning and Development. She would replace Chad Pelishek, who resigned his position effective May 12th following months of dispute within City Hall that also resulted in the controversial firing of City Administrator Todd Wolf in January.
McGinnis-Casey previously served as the Vernon County Resources and Community Development Director, and is currently the Community Development Administrator for the City of Lacrosse.
