40 years ago an effort began to get to know the neighbors and local law officers through a front-porch gathering. That event has grown to a country-wide observance known as “National Night Out”, and tonight you can be part of Sheboygan’s celebration.
The local observance will take place from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Park at 23rd and Union Avenue and will include displays of fire and police vehicles, food trucks, music, and a mile-and-a-half walk around the southside neighborhood.
Sheboygan’s observance is the event for all of Sheboygan County, and the National Night Out organization hopes people will come from throughout the county to take part. Before coming, though, they’re putting out a reminder to turn on your porch lights, and don’t forget to lock the door.
