WASHINGTON, DC (WHBL) – The Nationals opened their series against the Brewers with a 5-3, comeback win from DC. on Monday night.
Washington trailed 3-2 in the seventh inning until Lane Thomas singled home the game tying run. Joey Meneses stepped up and drove in two more runs to give his side the lead.
Elvis Peguero got the loss after surrendering three runs while recording two outs in relief.
Joey Wiemer slugged a homer for Milwaukee, which fell to 57-50.
The Brewers have now lost four in a row and are second in the NL Central, a game and a half behind Cincinnati.
Game two of the three-game set takes place Tuesday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 5:30.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are continuing to bolster their lineup ahead of the MLB trade deadline. Milwaukee acquired Mark Canha from the Mets in exchange for minor league pitcher Justin Jarvis.
The left fielder is hitting .245 this season with six homers and 29 RBI. Canha can play all three outfield positions along with third and first base.
