MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Wisconsin has formally dropped out of a lawsuit over funding for a border wall with Mexico.
The legislature’s joint finance committee voted unanimously on Tuesday to let Attorney General Josh Kaul drop out of a lawsuit that stemmed from former President Donald Trump’s efforts to build a wall on the southern border.
That plan shifted funding away from several military projects in Wisconsin.
The lawsuit was technically rendered moot in 2021 after the Biden administration halted construction, but Democrat Attorney General Josh Kaul had to ask permission to drop out of the lawsuit thanks to laws passed after Kaul won the election over his Republican rival in 2018.
