The Sheboygan Area Tourism organization VisitSheboygan has announced plans centered around the Mercury Racing Midwest Challenge. The first international marine Formula One Racing Series hosted by Sheboygan will take place August 11-13 in the waters off Sheboygan from the Harbor south to Black River, but activities will take place in many locations around Sheboygan’s Harbor Centre and downtown districts.
Official events begin with a kickoff party from 6 until 10 p.m. Friday the 11th at City Green where the powerboats will be on display for public viewing. And per “official” Sheboygan standards, there WILL be a brat fry…as well as food trucks, beverage concessions and music from the Past Curfew band.
The powerboat races themselves fill the bill for both Saturday and Sunday, August 12th and 13th, and while the action will be on the water, the official event stage will be at the end of South Pier Drive next to Blue Harbor Resort where event sponsors, racing teams, local shops, food trucks and a VIP tent will be located, while those attending can see the races streamed live on a jumbo screen.
Events generally run between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. both days with champions crowned at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
