A multi-jurisdictional drug task force along with investigators from the Lake Winnebago Area Metro Enforcement Group has taken drugs, weapons, and numerous suspects off the streets in Fond du Lac County through a sweep conducted last Thursday.
Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says that the operation, which targeted high drug trafficking neighborhoods and corridors, resulted in 95 traffic stops that involved five felony and one misdemeanor criminal arrests, one warrant arrest, 25 traffic citations, two “drugged driving” charges, 41 traffic warnings and one ordinance citation. Drugs seized included fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, Schedule-II prescription medications and paraphernalia.
During the operation one high-risk traffic stop resulted in two felons, one from Milwaukee and the other from Green Bay, being taken into custody after driving over stop sticks and leaving the road.
Besides the dozens of officers involved, Sheriff Waldschmidt also gave significant credit to the dispatchers who coordinated the thousands of radio transmissions sent and received during the operation.
