Tuesday was a very fortunate day for several persons who purchased tickets locally. It’s not known yet if the buys were made by local residents, but one of the two is a million dollars richer as a result.
The Wisconsin Lottery announced on Wednesday that a Mega Millions ticket sold at the Pick N Save on 2643 Eastern Avenue in Plymouth matched five of five numbers (10-31-45-46-49) but not the Mega Ball (5) from the Tuesday, July 11 drawing for a prize of $1 million. It’s the second time in 2023 that the Plymouth Pick N Save has sold a one-million-dollar ticket after a player validated a winning $1 million “Rose Gold” scratch ticket purchased from that store in March.
The event caught Pick N Save Store Director, Shaun Priesgen, off-guard, as he’d qualify as a “newbie” by any measure. “I have been the director of this store for only three days and WOW, what an experience.” he told the Wisconsin Lottery. He continued “We are super excited for the winner.”
Another Mega Millions ticket sold at the Kwik Trip at 1000 North Main Street in Sheboygan Falls was one of two $10,000 winning tickets sold for Tuesday’s drawing, the other being purchased in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Wisconsin Lottery advises that players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings, and all winning Lottery tickets need to be signed. Also, Lottery tickets are “bearer instruments”, meaning that whoever signs the back of the ticket is considered the rightful owner.
The Wisconsin Lottery also pays an award to the retailer who sold the winning ticket. Lottery rules state that retailers who sell winning tickets over $599 receive a two percent Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000. In the case of a million-dollar prize, that amounts to $20,000.
