Frederick A. Stangel, age 85, of Sheboygan passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 11,
2023, at Sheboygan Progressive Health Services.
He was born in Two Rivers, WI on December 15, 1937, to the late Michael and Helen (Kershek) Stangel.
He graduated from Central High School. He proudly served his country when enlisting in the United
States Army and was on the 101 st Airborn Division. On September 8, 1962, Fred was united in marriage
to Beverly Gromoll at St. Clements Catholic Church in Sheboygan. He was employed at Sheboygan Paint
Co., retiring as a Customer Care Representative.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. In his earlier years, he also liked fishing, bicycling, playing
racquetball and walking. In the past, Fred was also a volunteer at St. Clements Catholic Church and St.
Nicholas Hospital.
Fred is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Debra (Dave) Schloss and DeeAnna (Glen) Jaschob;
grandchildren, Brittany (Drew) Waters, Nathan Schloss and Derek Jaschob; three great-grandchildren; a
sister, Rose Reinwand; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his siblings, JoAnn, Donald, Lawrence.
A Memorial Service with military honors for Fred will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023,
at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N 8 th St. in Sheboygan with Chaplain Kevin
Spaeth officiating. Family will greet visitors on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00AM until the time
of the service. Fred will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Fred’s name.
Fred’s family would like to thank the staff at both Sheboygan Progressive Health Services and Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice for the excellent care given to Fred.
