The driver who caused a head-on crash when he went the wrong way on a divided highway on Saturday night has been identified by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say that 69-year-old Scott Hartenberger of Kiel was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 57 when he collided with a vehicle near County Highway “N” about a mile north of Waldo shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday. Hartenberger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the other vehicle, driven by a still-unidentified female from Cedar Grove, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton for treatment.
A cause of the crash and any contributing factors have yet to be released.
