John J. Spring, age 61, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on
June 22, 2023.
John was born on December 11, 1961, a son of the late Frank and Jennie Spring. John graduated from Clifton
High School in New Jersey in 1978. Immediately after graduating, he proudly enlisted in the United States
Marine Corps and faithfully served his country.
He was a dedicated and loving father to his four children: Christopher, Forrest, Tara and Julie. In August of
2010, he married Dawn (Schmidt) Cain and merged his family with hers; including her children, Nick Cain and
Katy Cain, and his adored grandchildren Charlie and Evelyn Nass. He was affectionately known as “Grandpa
John” to numerous other children that loved him dearly.
John was an unbelievably generous and passionate man. First and foremost was his business that he owned
and operated for more than 30 years, Springs Pools & Spas. He was committed to his employees and
customers, and they were an extension of his family. He had a gift for transforming backyards into a magical
paradise for all to enjoy. He orchestrated and directed his talented, driven, hard-working crew to create his
vision and turn his customers dreams into a reality.
John’s charisma and spirit were second to none, he truly had a zest for life – the “ultimate entertainer”.
Especially his 4 th of July parties, his motto was the bigger the better; a lot a booms, a lot a bangs, and a lot a fun
for all. John Spring was an incredibly giving man. His generosity touched more lives than anyone will ever
know. He never wanted recognition and went out of his way to be as anonymous as possible. He gave from his
heart because it was the right thing to do.
He loved nothing more than playing cards- Sheepshead. His desire was to turn a quarter into a prophet that he
could rub into his opponent’s face. Just ask the BB’s Lois and Judy. He loved the game of golf and the challenge
and comradery it presented. Let’s not forget his need for speed and his muscle cars that brought him so much
joy.
John is survived by his loving wife Dawn, his adoring children Christopher (Hannah) of NJ, Forrest (Becky) of
Plymouth, Tara (Jaylen) of PR, Julie (Eric) of NJ, Nick Cain of Plymouth, and Katy Cain and his grandchildren
Charlie and Evelyn Nass of Plymouth. His siblings: Kevin (Linda) Spring of NJ, Tim (Myndy) Spring of MI, and
Michelle (Alex) Torresola of FL. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Dian Diener of Plymouth, Wayne (LuAnn) Schmidt

beloved crew at Springs Pools & Spas.
