Drought has maintained its hold on Sheboygan County, while parts of southwest Wisconsin have now become parched.
Sheboygan County has been in a moderate drought since early this month after rainfall during April and May fell far short of normal. May saw only .83” of rain, 2-1/2 inches short of usual expectations, and June has seen only 1.13 inches of rain to date. That amount would usually have fallen within the first week or so.
The National Weather Service does indicate the chance that showers and thunderstorms over the weekend and Monday could give Sheboygan County between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain, it will take much more than that to reverse the trend and return soil moisture to anything close to normal.
