Joan Beck, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Sheboygan Senior Community. Joan was born on November 19, 1927 the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Leibham) Stempihar in Sheboygan. She attended St. Peter Claver School and was a 1946 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. On February 19, 1949, Joan was united in marriage to Raymond Beck at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Joan was a dedicated Prange’s and Younkers employee for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Joan enjoyed playing cards, especially Gin Rummy with Ray and going to Bingo at Oneida. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening and attending many of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Joan was a loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress and excellent cook and baker for her family. She particularly enjoyed crocheting blankets for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan and Ray enjoyed camping with the family, traveling around the country and their trips to Europe, especially Germany.
Joan in survived by her four children, Karen (Mark) Sprangers, Nancy Beck, Bette (Dick) Lambrecht, and David (Nancy) Beck. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Kurt (Meredith) Sprangers, Kristin (Ed) Mueller, Michael Sprangers, Bryan (Erica) Lambrecht, Becky (Josh) Alfonsi, Bridget (Ryan) Rakow, Bradley (Shana) Lambrecht, Brandon (Laura) Beck, Kayla Beck, Kelsey (Mark) Probasco, and Brady Beck; seventeen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jackie (Roger) Marver, Barbara Dickmann and Susan (Walter) Markgraf; brother, Rick (Romelia) Stempihar and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Mary Lou; three sisters, Elizabeth Bender, Virginia Tasche and Frances Stanisch.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Ave., Sheboygan, with Mass to begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Joan’s greatest joys were her husband Ray, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
