(Note: initial notice indicated that southbound only would be affected. This update from the Wisconsin DOT informed us that both north and southbound I-43 will be closed during the operation)
A long stretch of I-43 will be shut down in Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties on Wednesday night. That’s so crews from American Transmission Company can safely pull wires across the interstate as part of a project that’s installing a new, 6-1/2 mile, 138,000-volt transmission line.
In order to complete that part of the job, I-43 will be closed between Highway 42 at Sheboygan and Highway “XX” at Cleveland in Manitowoc County ginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday, reopening again at 5 a.m. on Thursday.
That traffic will be re-routed along State Highway 42 and Highway XX during that operation.
