There are no restrictions on swimming in Lake Michigan, although water temperatures are only around 50 degrees, but with a wet suit and a jet ski, opportunity abounds. But there are City ordinances governing where you can – and can’t – launch and operate those personal watercraft. You’re not allowed to launch or rest them on the beachfront and must get them in and out of the water at an approved city boat launch. Wisconsin law also prohibits wake-jumping, operating near swimmers, and operating faster than no-wake speeds within 100 feet of the shoreline,.
