Marcy Marcheske, 60, of Sheboygan, was born to eternal life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
She was born August 16, 1962, to Clarence and Arnice (Athorp) Marcheske. Marcy graduated
from Sheboygan North High School in 1980, Summa Cum Laude. She graduated from
Lakeshore Technical Institute with an associate degree in nursing summa. She went on to
complete her bachelor’s in nursing in 1989, summa and masters in nursing and health care
admin, summa cum 2009, while a single parent, caring for a young child and working full time
plus. She obtained her national certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the American
Nurses Credentialing Center and held this certification for 20 years. Marcy retired from
Froedtert Holy Family Memorial, where she was privileged to work with and be led by
consummate professionals. At Froedtert HFM, Marcy found the passion of kindness and
service to others that brought her immense joy and purpose. Her nursing staff on 5th floor and
dietitians were among the very best.
I thank God for good friends and for my cousins. Without you I could not have gone through
what I did. Marcy enjoyed flowers, swimming, music, gardening, the beauty of the outdoors
and especially beautiful trees on trips to northern Wisconsin with friends and reading her
Bible. She found particular comfort in the book of Psalms. Marcy was always grateful in life
and acknowledged prior to her death how fortunate she was to have wonderful lifelong
friends, dear sister angels on earth Jessica and Mary J-M, without whom she would not have
been able to receive treatment for her ovarian cancer. The Vince Lombardi Cancer Center
nurses, staff, navigators and Drs. , immediately were not simply caregivers but had their well-
deserved long overdue Angel status in Marcy’s eyes. Marcy appreciated the extreme kindness
and concern shown by her cousins especially the fine wood carvings of crosses and items to
cheer her by Don Lorier. She was inspired by the selfless generosity and support of good
friends, Matt and Tina, the entire Bitter Neumann family led by Dan Radue and the City of
Sheboygan DPW, who assisted Marcy and family. The entire 5th floor staff, Amy J, Kara, Becky,
Maria, Tom and the rest of the Holy Family family made every day a day to love and enjoy
while at work teaching Marcy the true meaning of the words “leader,” “team” and “family.”
No sincere act of love and compassion ever went unnoticed by Marcy. She continued to have a
photographic memory even after high dose chemotherapy. In her final year, she chose to only
acknowledge the happy memories and kind individuals. The Hippocrates who knelt in prayer
Saturday at 5pm and “humphed” at a good morning Monday morning were viewed by Marcy
As animals. Lest any of those who sent weekly cards, lifted her up in prayer daily, checked in
daily, or did any one of the myriad of acts of kindness think you were forgotten, I love and
thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Marcy devoted her life to her son, Drew since 2002. Marcy is survived by her sister, Marietta
(Paul) Klauck. Marcy was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service to celebrate Marcy’s life will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church on
Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 1:00pm with Pastor Tyler officiating. Interment will take place at
Woodland Cemetery in Kohler.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church from 11:00am until the time of service.
Memorials are appreciated in Marcy’s name to Safe Harbor and Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her doctors, Dr. Abdel Hosein, Dr.
Nicholas Gustafson and staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Sheboygan. As well as the
teams at Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan and Aurora Medical Center – Grafton, Orange
Cross Ambulance, and Sharon S. Richardson for their compassionate care during this difficult
time.
“I am grateful and thankful to God that after many years, the tide has finally turned for me.”
“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you till it seems as though you
could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that
the tide will turn.”
~Harriet Beecher Stowe
I was a victim of abuse most of my life with a tiny break when I was single and supporting
myself. The Holy Family angels befriended me, strengthened me and helped me. They lived “if
you do it unto the least of me…” nurses without empathy and with hearts of stone prior,
remember what He says. Kneeling so everyone sees you bow your head Saturday at 5, and
mistreating the least of these Monday morning at work and every day, missed His point and is
most shameful. Animal is much more suiting than nurse. You don’t know if kindness will get us
anywhere? Trust me, you were never going anywhere I wanted to be.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
