On Monday, May 29 th , 2023, Byron Karl Schultz Jr. was welcomed into the loving arms
of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After a brief, intense battle with pneumonia,
surrounded by his family, Bryon finished his work on Earth and peacefully breathed his
last.
Son to La Verne (Grossheim) and Byron Schultz Sr., Bryon was born on January 23 rd ,
1951, in Plymouth, WI. He lived his life outside of Cascade, WI. Byron joined his loving
parents and older brother Chuck already in Heaven, along with other family members
who preceded Byron in death.
Bryon is survived by his son Greg, daughter-in-law Sarah, granddaughter Samantha,
and another grandbaby arriving this autumn. Byron spent the last almost twenty years
of his life loving his girlfriend, Lori Von der Puetten.
Byron will be deeply missed by his siblings who were his best friends: Kenneth (Brenda)
Schultz, Shirley (Jim) Wright, and Leon (Jeannie) Schultz. Byron’s thirteen nieces and
nephews and their children will cherish endless memories they made with their Uncle
Junior. A close-knit extended family and friends will remember Byron fondly as a caring
and strong man.
Byron loved God, his family, and farming. He spent countless hours on tractors
plowing, planting, and harvesting the land as his father did. With his two brothers
Kenny and Leon, Byron ran the family dairy farm. They milked cows for decades until a
fire took the milking barn. After that, Bryon and his brothers worked the farmland and
raised steers to provide meat for the family. If Byron wasn’t working land or hunting, he
would be cutting firewood or milking cows with his cousins on their nearby farm.
Byron was always busy with a project but loved to spend time with his granddaughter.
Under the cover of dirt and dust, Byron had a soft side. He cherished time passing
down life lessons like how to pick seemingly endless rocks before planting a field and
how to make homemade applesauce just like his mom did.
Byron loved being outdoors. As much as taking a trophy animal, Byron loved the time
with family spent enjoying the woods. He hunted his whole life. His faith made him a
great steward of the land and animals God provided.
Byron was a baptized and confirmed, lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in
Cascade, WI where a celebration of his life will be held. Visitation will be at St. Paul
Lutheran Church Cascade from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Monday, June 5th. Rev.
Richard Bidinger will officiate the service at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s
Cemetery in Cascade, WI. After the interment, family and friends are invited to gather in
the hall at church for a meal.
And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to the God who
gave it. – Ecclesiastes 12:7
