A Manitowoc Man faces multiple charges connected to an argument that escalated into a life-threatening attack.
The Manitowoc Police Department said on Tuesday that they were called by a witness on May 17th who said a woman was screaming for help from a driveway in the 400 block of Riverview Drive where she was being kicked in the head by 60-year-old David J. Downs who resided at the same address. Arriving officers located the woman who had a life-threatening puncture wound to her upper abdomen, and after a brief physical struggle, took Downs into custody and recovered the weapon. The victim was immediately transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay where she was last reported in stable condition.
While the investigation continues, likely charges include Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide, Substantial Battery, Domestic Violence, Resisting Officers and a Probation Hold.
