A project to repair the surfaces of ramps and the Wisconsin Highway 42 roundabout at I-43 will require detours for five days beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 5th. The Wisconsin DOT announced on Wednesday that closures will involve the northbound I-43 on and off-ramps at Highway 42, along with the roundabout that routes traffic between the two highways. The southbound I-43 off-ramp to Highway 42 north, however, will remain open during resurfacing. This will allow crews to repair asphalt, a task that’s expected to last through 4 p.m. on Friday, June 9th.
I-43 to 42 Detours:
Northbound I-43 traffic expecting to take 42 southbound will exit on Highway 23 westbound, exiting at County Highway “Y”, taking that road northbound to County “J”, then eastbound to 42.
Those needing to get to 42 north from I-43 north will take 23 west to “Y”, continuing north on “Y” until meeting Highway 42 north.
While the southbound I-43 off-ramp to Highway 42 will remain open, detours will be needed for those needing to continue south on 42 into Sheboygan, and will follow the detour listed below.
Highway 42 Detours to Bypass Roundabout:
Northbound Highway 42 traffic will follow “J” west to “Y”, then northward to the 42 intersection.
Southbound Highway 42 traffic will take County “Y” south to County “J”, then east to 42.
