Barbara Ann “Barb” D. Kaestner, 85, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Monday, May
22, 2023, at her home at Terrace Place in Sheboygan. She was born March 28, 1938, in
Sheboygan to the late Anton and Carmelita (Federer) Leibham. Barb graduated from Holy
Name School in 1952 and Sheboygan North High School in 1956.
On May 4, 1957, she was united in marriage to Roy A. Kaestner. They celebrated 65 years
together, raising five children; Keith (Karen) Kaestner of Burnsville, MN, Kevin (Kathy) Kaestner
of Big Fork, MT, Karen (Randy) Ingels of Howards Grove, Kathy (Ed) Gumbert of Green Bay, and
Kurt (Lynn) Kaestner of Oak Creek. Roy preceded Barb in death on September 11, 2022.
While raising their 5 children, Barb volunteered as a school nurse, worked at Imperial
Distributing and worked for the Sheboygan Area School District, retiring after 15 years on May
15, 1994.
She was a faithful member of St. Dominic Catholic Church where she helped on the grounds
crew. Her other areas of interest included gardening, Polka dancing, singing, walking, fishing at
the cottage, traveling, doing puzzles, playing cards and spending time with her children and
grandchildren.
Barb is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way, sister
Lorraine Schroeder of Libertyville, IL, brother Kenneth (Sue) Leibham of Sheboygan, brother-in-
law Gene (Kathleen) Kaestner of Howards Grove, extended family Reinhard Palm of Elkhart
Lake and Gladys Palm of Sheboygan Falls. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Phyllis
Hendrikse, sisters-in-law Phyllis (Leander) Nohl and Jeanette Moioffer, and extended family
Hans Palm and Joyce Palm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Dominic
Catholic Church, 2133 N. 22 nd St. Sheboygan, with Fr. Mark Brandl officiating. Entombment will
take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on
Friday, June 2, 2023, from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at the CHURCH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Dominic Catholic Church’s Food Pantry or
Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan.
