Harold W. Gorr, 95, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday evening, May 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born April 20, 1928 in Sheboygan, Harold was a son of the late Frederick and Alma Spalinger Gorr. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army in 1951. On November 21, 1953, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Schmeiser at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
Harold worked at the Sheboygan Glass Company for 33 years before his retirement in 1989. Following retirement, he worked part time at Trilling’s Hardware. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Harold was an avid woodworker, especially building model airplanes and doing home repairs. They enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and playing Sheepshead and poker. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family and friends, especially his little buddy, Snowball.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Vonnie; his children, Terri (Dan) Howard, Danbury, WI, Jeffrey (Diane) Gorr, Sheboygan, Pamela (James) Wilbert, Kiel, and James Gorr, Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Chad (Jessica) Howard, Kyle Howard, Kaitlin (Zach Nienaber) Howard, Jacob Gorr, Addison (Ashley Kipp) Wilbert, Nicholas (Kelly) Wilbert, and Tiffany (Mike) Wieser; seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Alma and Frederick, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin and Carl; his sister, Marion; mother and father-in-law, Leona and George Schmeiser; brothers-in-law, Kermit and Richard Schmeiser; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Gordon.
Funeral services for Harold will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 13th & Lincoln Avenue. Pastor Alan Kretschmar will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
