The fourth, and largest grant bestowed by the National Science Foundation in four years has been awarded to Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland. The $650,000 grant will enable LTC to partner with the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District and industry employers to develop an advanced manufacturing technology charter school, the first of its kind in the state.

LTC President Paul Carlsen said that graduates of RADCAM TEC will be ready to fill jobs for skilled technicians in areas including CNC, machine tool, welding, and industrial maintenance. He also noted the opportunities offered to women and individuals from low-income backgrounds which are traditionally underrepresented in those areas. The NSF grant will fund efforts to broaden participation among students in those populations.
