ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ bullpen stepped up big in a 3-2 win against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Tuesday night.
Starter Wade Miley surrendered a run in the first inning and left the game in the second with a muscle strain. Five arms were then used out of the bullpen and combined to give up just one more run on six hits. Joel Payamps was credited with the win.
Meanwhile, Brian Anderson and Joey Wiemer each crushed homers to pace the Brewers’ offense.
Milwaukee improved to 24-18 and is first in the NL Central.
Nolan Arenado homered in his fifth straight game for St. Louis, which fell to 17-26. The Cards are last in the division.
