1,500 healthcare and emergency services students, and professionals who take classes, are to be supported each year with the addition of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Center for Health Care Excellence at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland. Groundbreaking for the $4 million facility will take place on Monday, May 22nd, attended by senior officials from Froedtert Health, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, and Froedtert-Holy Family Medical. Also expected are executives from New North, Bay Area Workforce Development, Chamber of Manitowoc County, the Sheboygan Economic Development Corporation, as well as elected officials from the area and LTC students, faculty, and area residents.
The groundbreaking will officially launch construction of a new 16,000 square foot healthcare instructional facility at Lakeshore Technical Institute. LTC’s current health skills lab will be updated and expanded to create the new Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Center for Health Care Excellence.
The LTC Foundation provided $3 million to the project, along with more than $200,000 in scholarships for health care students.
The announcement of the new facility noted the continually growing demand among area hospitals and clinics for thoroughly-trained healthcare professionals in all fields. The updated facilities will enable Lakeshore to provide more students – double the current volume – the highest quality professional health education quickly and effectively.
A timetable for construction and completion was not addressed in the announcement. Groundbreaking ceremonies will take place from 10:30 a.m. until Noon on Monday, May 22nd at the LTC Lakeshore Building.
