Randall “Randy” Lensen, 78, of Cascade, passed away Sunday evening, May 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born September 28, 1944 in Sheboygan, Randy was a son of the late Edward Lensen and Mary Abrashinsky Lensen. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1961. On November 20, 1965, he was united in marriage to Katherine M. Schmeda at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc.
Randy worked at the Vollrath Company for more than 40 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Vollrath Quarter Century Club and the Sheboygan UAW Local 1472. Kathie and Randy showed and bred Samoyeds and they belonged to the Samoyed Club of America, the Sheboygan Kennel Club, and the Greater Milwaukee Samoyed Fanciers. Randy was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time working in his yard and riding his John Deer tractor. He also enjoyed trips to the Mirage in Las Vegas and appreciated fine wine and good food. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Nicholas and his golden retriever, Gradie.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathie; his son, Timothy (Sherri) Lensen, Oostburg; his grandson, Nicholas (fiancé Jenna Van Hammond) Lensen, Sheboygan; his in-laws, Ed “Tuffy” (Joyce) Schmeda, FL, Joann Schmeda, Plymouth, Bill (Marlene) Schmeda, Green Bay and David (Mary) Schmeda, Green Bay; nieces and nephews including Kelly and Brett; other relatives and many friends. He is further survived by his special friends, Kenny (Grace) Wirth and his fishing buddy, Gary (Sara) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy; his parents, Tony and Mary Green; and his sister, Judy Lensen Sager.
Funeral services for Randy will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials in Randy’s name may be made to the Sheboygan County Humane Society and the Sheboygan County Cancer Fund.
The family would like to thank Dr. S. Mary Bettag and his staff, and the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
