Anyone looking for affordable housing these days can tell you it’s not easy to find the right home or apartment. And with the ongoing scarcity of available units, prospective renters may find that it pays to do your homework and learn how to be a responsible tenant. That’s where Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Sheboygan hopes to make a difference and tip the odds in the prospective renter’s favor.
The “Rent Smart” tenant training class is being held next week Wednesday, May 17th from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce building on South 8th Street. The goal is to educate current and prospective renters on the rights and responsibilities of being good tenants. Those who participate will leave with a certificate when the class concludes.
The program is free, thanks to a Community Development Block Grant from the City of Sheboygan, and those who want to take the class need to sign up by noon on Tuesday, May 16th. To do that, contact Consumer Credit Counseling Service at 920-458-3784.
