Pamela Dallas Rudnick died April 26th, 2023 after a three and a half year battle with cancer. She was
born on May 17th, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Gust Dallas and June (Brack) Dallas. She spent her
childhood in Skokie, IL until the family moved to Northbrook, IL where she attended Glenbrook North
High School. She studied Sociology at the University of Northern Illinois until she graduated in 1975.
Upon graduation she took a job with General Mills as a sales rep. This job eventually landed her in
Sheboygan where she thought she would be for only a year or two. While in Sheboygan she met and
married Alan Rudnick. They were married for 43 years until Alan died of cancer in August of 2022. In
1979, they moved to Crystal Lake where they had two sons, Paul and Jeffrey. In the early 1980’s, Pam
made a career change and became a stockbroker, and was always proud of her part in helping remove
the glass ceiling for women working in finance. Pam was both an avid tennis player and golfer, having
made three Hole in One’s in her playing career. She also enjoyed bridge and in later years, she became
skilled at Mahjong.
She was elected to the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School District board for ten years serving several terms
as board VP. She was a volunteer at Bridgeway House in Sheboygan and took joy in mentoring local
families. After she and Alan moved into the Village of Elkhart Lake in 2007, she became involved in
Village life serving as a poll worker as well as a member of the Beautification Committee.
She was a proud and independent person who always made herself and her wishes known. She is
preceded in death by her husband, Alan S. Rudnick, and her parents, June and Gust Dallas. She is
survived by two sons, Paul (Sarah) Rudnick and Jeffery Rudnick both of Elkhart Lake; the joy of her life,
granddaughter Beatrix Rudnick of Elkhart Lake; brothers Chet Dallas (Tim Griffin) of Skokie, IL, Jim Dallas
(Diane) of Alpharetta, GA, Nick Dallas (Sue) of Skokie, IL and one Brother-in-law, Stuart (Doreen
Braverman) Rudnick of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by her Sister Agnes (Scott) Roberts with
whom she had a special bond as well as nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to be able to list.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you direct your generosity towards two organizations near and
dear to Pam’s heart: The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Education Foundation as well as Bookworm Gardens.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral, but rather a celebration to take place at a day and time to be
determined.
What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of
others – Pericles.
