Diane E. Lutzke passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023, at the age of 81 with her loving family by her
side. She was born on June 21, 1941, to the late Harley and Hildegarde Grunewald. She attended
Howards Grove High School and graduated with the class of 1959. On November 25, 1961, Diane was
united in marriage with Peter Lutzke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. They were married
for 41 years before Peter preceded her in death on March 17, 2003. She worked side by side with Peter
for many years in their various business ventures and then later worked for Johnsonville Sausage until
her retirement in 2003. Diane loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, and supported them in everything they did. She enjoyed competing in the annual Citizens
Bank Dress-a-Doll contest with her sister-in-law, Judy, every November where they frequently won the
grand prize. She created many beautiful flower beds at her home and took great joy in tending to them.
She was a talented seamstress, loved doing puzzles and playing cards, and was a great cook who
enjoyed making wonderful meals for her family. She was a proud pet mom to many animals over the
years and she loved all of them dearly.
Diane is survived by her children, Steven (Patty) Lutzke, Teresa (Ron) Lett, Maria Splittgerber and Jeffrey
(Lisa) Lutzke; grandchildren, Jamie (special friend Kyle), Jesse (special friend Erin), Nicole (special friend
Craig), Jared, Tyler, Kyle and Carter; great-grandchildren, Kolt and Dylan; and brother, Ralph (Judy)
Grunewald. She is further survived by many dear friends and relatives that were close to her heart.
Diane is preceded in death by her husband, Peter; parents, Harley and Hildegarde, and other family
members.
