Carol Mae Schoneman, 88, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Countryside Manor where she had been residing.
Born January 28, 1935 in the Town of Mosel, Carol was a daughter of the late Palmer and Leona Horneck Sixel. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1952. On August 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to Richard G. Schoneman, Sr. at St. Mark Ev. Reformed Church in the Town of Mosel. They were married for 69 years before Richard preceded her in death on January 16, 2023.
Carol worked for PLENCO for 24 years until her retirement. She previously worked as a waitress for many years at Rutherford In Hika Bay, Town and Country, The Durwood’s Flamingo and Kings Food Host. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Kohler for many years. Carol enjoyed golfing and bowling for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, water skiing, and playing cards with friends. They also liked taking bus trips and attending out of town Packer games. One of her greatest joys was attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Sharol) Schoneman, Sheboygan Falls, Jeff (Linda) Schoneman, Howards Grove, Lynn (Glen) Kohlhagen, Plymouth, and Richard (Lisa) Schoneman, Plymouth; grandchildren, Jay (Ashley) Schoneman, Joel (Jamie Fleury) Schoneman, Kate Schoneman, Ashley (Patrick) Rathsack, Jami (Mike) Schoneman-Bohn, Jerod (Kelly) Schoneman, Jessie (Don) Wensink, Christy (Brandon) Staab, Calley (Johnny) Mize, Taylor (Hailee) Kohlhagen, Eric Schoneman, and Bryan Schoneman; 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Ray Sixel; her sister-in-law, Ruth Schoneman; and brother-in-law, Robert Schoneman; other relatives, and friends.
Besides her parents and her husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Leslie Schoneman, her brother-in-law, George Schoneman and her sister-in-law, Marion Sixel.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Grace United Church of Christ, 500 School Street in Kohler. Friends and family are welcome at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Beth Petzke will be officiating.
Donations in Carol’s name can be made to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, The Gathering Place and Grace UCC.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Countryside Manor and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
