SEATTLE, WA (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Mariners 7-3 in their series opener in Seattle Monday night.
Corbin Burnes earned the win after surrendering two runs over five-plus innings. However, Burnes left the game in the sixth inning with a left pectoral strain, which was described as “minor” by both him and manager Craig Counsell after the game. Burnes said there hasn’t been any talk about him missing his next start.
Brice Turang launched his second homer of the season for the Crew while Brian Anderson went three for five at the plate with an RBI. Milwaukee improved to 12-5 as they continue to hold down first place in the NL Central.
The Brewers and Mariners will face off in game two of the series Tuesday night. Colin Rea gets the start for Milwaukee while Seattle counters with Logan Gilbert.
