Elsie P. Gessert, age 99, of Plymouth, passed away at home on April 3, 2023.
She was born on July 23, 1923 in the Town of Greenbush, a daughter of the late
Herman and Elsa (Dehn) Urban. She attended Glenbeulah Grade School and
graduated from New Holstein High School in 1941.
Elsie was a dedicated mother and homemaker, and worked at Borden’s for
several years. She also worked at Plymouth Hospital and Shell Patterns.
On August 10, 1957, she married Marvin W. Gessert at St. John Lutheran
Church in Plymouth. They resided in the Plymouth following their marriage.
Marvin preceded her in death on December 28, 2000.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth and belonged to
the Ladies Evening Guild and also served on the Church Newspapers. She was
also a member of Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 Auxiliary and
served as Past President. She also served as Past All-State President and was
District Treasurer for several years and also served as Past State Color Bearer.
Elsie enjoyed dancing, golfing, crocheting, needlework, tatting, and loved
volunteering at Rocky Knoll until she was 90 years old.
Survivors include: Her two sons: Gene Gessert of Milwaukee, and Mark Gessert
of Plymouth; Her brother, Harold Urban of Milwaukee; As well as nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: Her parents; Husband, Marvin; Daughter, Carol;
Four brothers: John (Aurelia), Lester (Lydia), William (Helen), and George; Two
sisters: Helen (Norbert) Mohs and Florence Jentsch; and Sister-in-law: Lou Ann
Urban.
Private Services will be held and inurnment will be in Plymouth Woodlawn
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Elsie’s name for Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice.
