Melvin E. Kaiser, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at St. Nicholas Hospital.
Born September 19, 1929 in Manitowoc, Melvin was a son of the late Harvey and Minnie Schmitt Kaiser. He attended Kiel area schools. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. On October 16, 1954, he was united in marriage to La Verne Roehrborn at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Melvin worked for the Vollrath Company for 42 years before his retirement in 1995 as a member of the UAW 1472. He previously worked for the Garton Toy Company and Polarware. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan on board his vessel, Captain Hook. He was an avid sports fan, following the Packers, Brewers and the Badgers. One of his greatest joys was spending time outside keeping a watch on the neighborhood with a cold beer.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, La Verne; his children, Kenneth Kaiser, Sheboygan, Karen Bogenschuetz, Spencer, IA, and Kevin (Jody) Kaiser, Sheboygan; six grandchildren, Tanya (Jamie) Ten Pas, Trever (Lindsay) Bogenschuetz, Cody (Abbie) Kaiser, Calie (Brent Thiel) Kaiser, Hannah Kaiser and Zac Kaiser; five great grandchildren, Bryce and Nolan Ten Pas, and Cameron, Reese and Trent Bogenschuetz’ nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Mary Kaiser, Ray (June) Kaiser, Pearl (Harold) Henkel, Allen (Marge) Kaiser, Leroy Kaiser, Donald (Judy) Kaiser, Roger (Susan) Kaiser, and Orben (Helen) Schmitt.
Funeral services for Melvin will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 917 Mead Avenue. Pastor James Schultz will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of St. Nicholas Hospital and Progressive Health Care Center for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Melvin’s arrangements.
