Margaret D. Meerdink, 101, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at
Cedar Grove Gardens.
Margaret was born on July 4, 1921, in Sheboygan County, daughter of Oscar and Alice
(Walvoord) Dana. She was a 1939 graduate of Wisconsin Memorial Academy in Cedar Grove.
On March 15, 1946, she married Marvin B. Meerdink in Cedar Grove. Marvin preceded her in
death on January 15, 1998. She was a busy and dedicated homemaker and worked at
Musebeck Shoe Company for 22 years, retiring in 1987.
Margaret was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, where she was
active in the Ladies Aide, sang in the church choir, and taught Sunday School. She was also a
member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Margaret enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, sewing, cards, and spending time with her
family. She especially enjoyed traveling abroad with Marvin. She will be remembered for her
caring and thoughtful manner, her giving spirit, and the many ways she helped others, and
being a devoted follower of Jesus.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Rosemary (John) Klug of Lake Delton; her son, Dennis
(Cheryl) Meerdink of Sheboygan Falls; six grandchildren, Carla (Mark) Engel, Aaron (Heather)
Klug, Holly (Rick) Moser, Seth (Martha) Klug, Katie (Dylan) Ottman, and Rachel (Abdul) Johnson;
14 great-grandchildren, Cory (Anna) Engel, Bailey (Lindsay) Engel, Elayna Klug, Bethany Klug,
Jack Moser, Ari, Ace, and Avi Klug, Zander, Griffin and Miles Ottman, Bennett, Max, and Zane
Johnson; four great-great-grandchildren, Violet, Lane, Sevi, and Isabel Engel. She is further
survived by her sister-in-law, Charlene Dana, and her nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Marvin, and her siblings, Eleanor
(Randall) Huenink, Gordon Dana, and Ralph Dana.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at First
Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. Visitation will take place on Tuesday at church from 10 a.m.
until the time of service at 12:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery by her
late husband.
