Carl E. Hitchcock passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan surrounded by his family. He was 88 years old.
Carl was born in Rewey, WI, the son of Owen and Helen (Steinborn) Hitchcock. He grew up in Rewey, graduating from Platteville High School. He went on to study at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, where he earned his Bachelors in Math.
For 20 years, Carl served his country in the United States Navy and United States Air Force including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
After retiring from the military Carl worked at Kohler Company, Wisconsin Electric, and as an international consultant for electric power generation. He was passionate about the work he did and took great pride in it.
On April 10, 1959, Carl was united in marriage with Elaine Beckwith in Wichita Falls, TX. This April would have been their 64th wedding anniversary.
Carl was a member of Grace UCC Church in Kohler. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, gardening, traveling, fine art, bird watching, and playing cards. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Carl is survived by his wife Elaine and their children: Carl Scott Hitchcock of Sheboygan, Stacy Harriott of Sheboygan, and Christy (Michael Finney) Hitchcock of Kohler; grandchildren: Annastazia Harriott, Brigita Kant, and Ashlyn, Joshua, and Allie Finney; sister Jean Steinhoff of Sheboygan; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Froedtert Cancer Center, Kathy’s House, and the staff at St. Nicholas Hospital for their exceptional care.
