CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers were held scoreless in their opening game of the season Thursday in Chicago, losing to the Cubs 4-0.
The Cubs’ Marcus Stroman struck out eight batters while giving up just three hits over six scoreless innings.
The Brewers were held to just four hits as both Willy Adames and Contreras hit singles.
Corbin Burnes got the loss for Milwaukee, pitching five innings while allowing four earned runs and issuing three walks on only 87 pitches. Furthermore, he only managed three strikeouts, which matched his career low for a start and marked just his third three-strikeout game since 2019.
The Brewers will try to bounce back Saturday afternoon when Brandon Woodruff takes the mound opposite Justin Steele in game two of this three game series.
