March seemed to be a pretty mixed-up month in our area, with the majority of this season’s snow happening during the past 30 days and little warming that many hoped for. But March now seems poised to exit like a lion, mixing up the seasons again just for good measure.
So far Sheboygan has seen 50 degrees only once this month – on the 22nd, one week after we fell to 2 above on the 15th. Today started very cold with temperatures in the teens and highs projected to reach only the upper 30s. Within a day, though, things look much more springlike with welcome temperatures in the 50s on Friday, but the unwelcome chance for severe storms as well, and so we may need to prepare for damaging winds and large hail after 4 p.m. tomorrow. You could call that the price we pay for getting warmer weather to visit during March. But don’t get used to that yet – we could gather an inch of snow by Saturday morning – yes, the first of April – with temperatures again reaching only the upper 30s, and wind chills in the mid teens as winds blast at 30 to 45 miles an hour.
