Wendy McKnight, age 50, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at Sharon S. Richardson Community
Hospice on March 11, 2023, where she was surrounded by her loved ones following a courageous battle
with cancer.
Wendy was born on August 12, 1972, a daughter of Dorthy (Krause) Shallue and the late Wayne Schuldt.
Wendy attended Riverview Middle School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1990. While in
high school, she was on the Dive Team, qualifying for State in the fall of 1989. She was also a member of
FFA and the Plymouth Street Masters, which she took great pride in.
The thing she loved most in life was her son, Hunter McKnight.
On June 6, 2009, she married her best friend and true love, Brian McKnight.
Wendy was a loving wife, amazing mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She dedicated most of her life
to caring for others. Often times going above and beyond EMT care, checking in with patients on her
own time. Making sure they were doing well or needed anything. Wendy followed in her father’s
footsteps and become a member of Plymouth Fire and Rescue. She served 25 years total, receiving
certifications as Firefighter 1 and EMT. Wendy also served as an EMT and dispatch with the
Plymouth/Orange Cross Ambulance Service for many years.
She was known for her sense of humor, endless stories, and adventurous nature. She was a lover of all
animals and could always be counted on to bring home stray animals (whether Brian approved or not)
to care for them. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and almost anything outdoors. Most of all,
Wendy loved spending time with her family and friends.
Wendy is survived by: Her husband, Brian; Son, Hunter; Mother, Dorthy (Rich) Shallue of Plymouth;
Brother, Kevin (Dawn) Schuldt of Plymouth; Niece, Leah (Schuldt) Donahoe of Gulf Port, MS; Mother-in-
law, Barb McKnight of Plymouth; Step-siblings: Matt (Sarah) Shallue of Parnell and Nathan Shallue of
