Forecasts by the National Weather Service went largely unchanged during the day on Thursday, keeping Sheboygan County and much of eastern Wisconsin under a Winter Storm Warning from 6 this evening until 10 a.m. on Friday. Those warnings extend from Kenosha County northward through Kewaunee County, and also include Waukesha and Washington Counties to the west.
Within the Warning area, 5-9 inches of snow are expected, with some higher amounts possible due to enhancement from Lake Michigan. The heaviest snowfall is expected between 6 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. on Friday, while it may take until between 9 a.m. and noon tomorrow for the storm to wrap up.
While the snow falls, southwest winds of 18-25 miles an hour are expected, and with temperatures right around freezing, roads will likely be slushy and slippery.
Anyone who absolutely must travel overnight is advised to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in the vehicle in case of an emergency, and a fully charged cellphone should also be on hand.
