William “Bill” J. Smith, age 91, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on March 5, 2023.
He was born on June 17, 1931 in Chippewa Falls, a son of the late Edward and Agnes (Morrison) Smith.
Bill graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army Reserves
and later re-enlisted in the United States Navy.
On June 26, 1951, he married Edna Elizabeth Kline in Chippewa Falls.
Since 1972, Bill owned and operated Plymouth Fabric Care, Video World, and Plymouth Safe and Lock.
He was a hard worker and always made sure his customers were satisfied.
In May of 1977, he married Linda Postuma in Sheboygan.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243, and many trade
associations where he served as officer.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, go carting, snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, flying kites, playing his
harmonica, scuba diving, traveling, and doing the polar bear plunge. Most of all he loved spending time
with his family and helping his customers.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; eight children, Paul Smith, Michelle (Dan) Lubach, Kenneth (Julie)
Smith, Timothy (Tina Hernickle) Smith, Brenda (Greg) Peterson, Eric Cary, Adam Cary, and Bobbi (Jeff)
Ahrens; daughter-in-law, Cindy Smith; brothers-in-law, Richard Postuma and Ken (Debbie) Postuma;
sisters-in-law, Darlene Alvarez and Karen Postuma; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
great-great-grandchildren.
He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randell Smith; two great-grandchildren; five siblings, Ed
“Buster”, Dorothy, Vivian, Patricia, and Frank; and brother-in-law, Jack Postuma.
Following Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bill’s name.
