The Sheboygan Police Department is paying special attention this month to a persistent problem. That problem has earned the nickname “Sheboygan Roll”, but it’s not the famous hard roll usually cradling a Sheboygan Bratwurst or two – this refers to those who don’t stop for stop signs. The SPD is going to be extra watchful and ticketing drivers who they observe failing to come to a complete stop at those signs.
The effort isn’t about increasing the number of tickets issued, but reducing the number of accidents caused by people not coming to a full and complete stop behind the lines at intersections whether going straight or turning right. And they say if you want to save the cost of a ticket – and maybe have more to spend at a brat fry – then pay attention. A stop sign means come to a full stop behind the lines, look for traffic, and if it’s clear, then you’re free to proceed.
