Sheboygan County Sheriff
The deaths of two Town of Rhine residents in Sheboygan County on Friday have been determined to be an apparent murder-suicide by Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office investigators.
Captain Matt Spence on Monday morning identified the suspect in the case as 56-year-old Douglas Lax, and the victim as his wife, 61-year-old Jane Fontaine, both residents of the home in which they were found on Little Elkhart Lake Road.
The two were located deceased on Friday, February 24th after a call was made at 9:15 a.m. to the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center to report the deaths of the two. The Sheriff’s Office has determined that Lax used a firearm to kill his spouse, and then turned the gun upon himself.
